September was on the face of it a very bad reading month for me. I only read 4 books. Except that doesn’t tell the true story of September because I actually read 7 books, but three of them were books that were written based on doctoral theses that I read for class or were textbooks, again for class. In addition to that I started student teaching, and being around people all day and having to think still leaves me absolutely brain dead with little ability to focus on a book. Then there was BBAW and Bok & Bibliotekmässan. I’ve just been super busy! Here is hoping that the next month will calm down.
So what did I read (and actually review)
John Adams by David McCullough
Really enjoyed this book. I found it well written and well supported. For me it was also interesting to draw parallels between the current political discussions and the ones at the time and to see how little some things have changed. Highly recommend it.
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman [audio]
This was my first book for the R.I.P. V Challenge and I absolutely loved it. I can’t tell you why I loved it, but I did. In addition I thought it was superbly narrated by Gaiman himself.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling [audio]
This was both a re-read and a re-listen for me but it has been quite some time since last time and I really felt like I was falling in love with the series all over again.
The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
Although I had some problems with the book, the further away from reading it the less these problems become. Overall it was a fantastic mystery and I am glad I could read it for the R.I.P. V Challenge. Another book I am happy to recommend.
During September I also wrote several posts for BBAW and for Banned Book Week.
So that was my September!

Well, seven books isn't bad if half of them are more serious/heavy stuff. I've read less than normal, too, somehow, got stuck at 12 while 15 or more in a month normal for me.
We haven't really heard how the book fair was - I only know you were going to sleep on your grandma's couch but the rest of the story... I'd love to hear it!
I'm working on a post about it but I wanted to use the past week for banned book week posts :D. Also I didn't actually unpack all the books until yesterday :D It was great though!
I'm glad to read that you will be writing about bokmässan!
And I think 7 books isn't at all bad. I have months in which I read far less than 7.
Oh I'm not sneezing at 7 but if you look at the blog it looks like I've only read 4 because that is all I've reviewed :D
Oddly, I'm listening to Graveyard Book, too, and, like you, enjoying it very much.
I did not expect to. I generally don't like scary.
I suspect it is the characters. I like the mix of folks in the graveyard.

That's a good number for a month (I think you should count the textbooks even if you wouldn't review them). You've reminded me I must start HP again!
You had a great month! I read The Graveyard Book last year and loved it. I think I will listen to the audio version during October.
